The Town of Colonial Beach fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30. Every June, the Town Council adopts the annual budget for the coming year. The budget is primarily a forward-looking document that guides the financial plan for the ensuing year to accomplish the goals and objectives listed in the Strategic Action Plan. The Office of the Town Manager and Finance Department works with each town department to compile the budget. The Town Council provides input throughout the budget process. Residents and the Town Council have multiple opportunities to review the budget before it is adopted by Council.
