Chief Gregory Deaver has 20-years law enforcement experience with the last 13 years in leadership positions. During Chief Deaver’s career, he has served in many capacities including Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, School Resources Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Administrative Sergeant, Administrative Lieutenant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Special Operations Lieutenant. Chief Deaver has experience in Community Engagement, Emergency Communications, Patrol Operations, Special Operations, Training, and Records.
Chief Deaver is a graduate of the Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Training Academy, the Christopher Newport University Leadership Institute, Saint Leo University’s 16th Session of Command Officer Management Program, University of Richmond’s 42nd Session Professional Executive Leadership School, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy 276th Session.
Chief Deaver holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with Honors, as well as a Master of Science of Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University. As well as a Graduate Certificate in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia. Chief Deaver was an adjunct professor for Saint Leo University from 2017-2020, as well has been an instructor for several law enforcement agencies, the Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Training Academy, and the Virginia Chiefs of Police Association. Chief Deaver has provided instruction, leadership, and mentorship to numerous supervisors throughout the Commonwealth in Leadership Ethics and Internal Affairs through the VACP’s First-Line Supervisors and Leaders in Changing Times programs.
